Community Development

Keep Johnson City Beautiful (KJCB) offers activities, events, and year-round programs that focus on environmental awareness, beautification, litter reduction, and effective waste handling.

  • Tree Cycle – Christmas trees are utilized in area TVA lakes for fish habitats. Over 400 households participated.
  • Great American Clean-up - Encourages community wide awareness of litter. Local litter cleanups are scheduled with over 300 volunteers participating.  KWB provides trash bags, safety vests, signs, and gloves to all participants.
  • Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day – Provides an opportunity for residents to properly dispose of paints, cleaners, pesticides, etc.  Co-hosted by the Appalachian RC&D Council.
  • Adopt-A-Street and Adopt-A-Spot Program – Area businesses and organizations agree to adopt an area, maintaining its appearance year-round.
  • Public Lands Day – Working in conjunction with other KAB affiliates to promote and develop a cleanup in the region.
