Generational Pannel

Adam Rosenbalm

         Adam is a Roan Scholar, the Secretary of Allocations for ETSU’s Student Government Association, and the Vice President of the Entrepreneurs Club at ETSU.
          A 2017 graduate of Tri-Cities Christian School, Adam has been native of this region for most of his life. His studies at ETSU included business finance, accounting, and storytelling, but he is also heavily involved with civic engagement programs on campus and has chaired a debate meant to help facilitate understanding and meaningful conversation between participants.
         Adam’s passions include entrepreneurship and small business management, basketball, and coaching high school students. Upon graduation, he plans to step into a full-time roll with the company he started with his family while still utilizing his degree in finance to guide others with their investment and retirement whenever he can

Emmanuel Rojas

         Emmanuel is the Recruitment & Training Specialist for General Shale Brick, Inc, one of North America’s largest brick, stone and concrete block manufacturers. As the corporate recruiter for General Shale, Emmanuel is responsible for identifying high potential talent for the company and placing those individuals in roles best suited to their academic and professional backgrounds.
         Emmanuel maintains strong relationships with employees post-hire and works closely with them and their managers to recommend and develop training initiates that will aid them in their careers with the company.
A native of East Tennessee, Emmanuel earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Milligan College in 2017. Much of his time outside of work is spent enjoying athletic and outdoor activities, supporting local businesses, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.

Dr. Melissa Stukes

        Dr. Stukes was born and raised in Sumter, SC. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Charleston in 2001, she worked at schools in her hometown of Sumter, SC. During this time, she obtained her Master’s Degree from Lesley University (2006). 
        In 2007, she moved to Johnson City, TN to continue her teaching career and pursue a Doctorate Degree from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) which she obtained in 2015. After teaching in Johnson City Schools, Dr. Stukes was an Assistant Principal for 1 ½ years before working in her current role as Principal of Mountain View Elementary School in Johnson City. 
        Dr. Stukes is a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Coalition for Kids in Johnson City. She has said “I love being happy, enjoying life, and helping others.”

Mary Sloanaker

        Mary Slonaker was born and raised in East Tennessee and currently lives in Telford. I have been working at Citi for 33 years as of August of this year! I am married to a wonderful husband and have been married for 30 years.
Instead of children, I have had various dogs over all of these years and currently have a Whippet who is timid when meeting people for the first time, but is very, very fast when on a ball field chasing balls! My stress reliever is running on weekends and walking whenever possible.

James M. Cross

        Mr. Cross is a native of Huntsville, Scott County, TN. He is a graduate of Huntsville High School and East Tenessee State University. At ETSU he obtained a bachelors in US History with a Minor: Psy & Military Science. He was commissioned 2nd Lt through ETSU Army RotC- Quartermaster Corps. He has obtained a Masters in Teaching, EDS- Educ’ Admin from ETSU and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from University Southern.
        James has an array of Military education and experience including the following: Quartermaster Officer Basic- Ft. Lee, VA; Ft. Sam Houston, TX: Med Svc Corps Officer Basic/Advanced, Patient Administration, Faculty Development; Command/General Officer Staff College, Ft. Levenworth, KS; National War College, National Security Management, Washington DC.
        He has had a few state side military assignments as well as overseas duties. He has also had many Army reserve assignments. As for civilian employment Mr. Cross has worked for the Washington County Department of Education since 1972.
